“You work for yourself? Must be nice…”

These words we heard many times by friends, relatives, new customers and even strangers via Social Media, more times than we can count.

So many people seem to have this romanticised version of what being an entrepreneur means. They’re bombarded with social media posts of people working from the beach and they read articles about newly minted billionaires.
It all looks so easy, right?

Well, let us tell you a secret.

It can actually be really hard, stressful and exhausting.

But, being an entrepreneur can also be incredibly liberating, exhilarating and unbelievably rewarding.

It is this constant mix of everything….a ongoing up and down journey!

The problem is the following. In our age of instant gratification, Internet fame and “accidental” billion-dollar start-ups, it’s easy to think of success as more of a product of luck than hard work and determination.

Yes, some people have been very lucky and went from having absolutely nothing to having everything in the blink of an eye. But those times are so few and far between that, if you’re hoping that’s what happens to you, then you’d sooner win the lottery while getting struck by lightning.

This is what Tim Ferris said: “…realising that there is no darkness without the light, that the light can come afterwards. And it does always come afterwards.”

A lot of people think that entrepreneurs have some rare combination of skill, luck, and intellect that makes them successful. That’s not the case for most entrepreneurs that we know.

Most entrepreneurs that we are aware of are just normal people who have an extrem drive and determination.

Sure, you need to have a bit of skill in at least something, but no more skill than the average person out there. And, yes, you have to be able to think, but it doesn’t take any extraordinary intellectual process to succeed at entrepreneurship.

One of the main things that sets an entrepreneur apart is something much deeper. It’s the constant drive. Call it hunger and ambition. Call it whatever you want. Just don’t be misled into thinking that it has something to do with smarts or skills.

For us the last year was a constant up and down. And it still is. Even if we had experience and it was not the first time that we started a business.

But this time it is different. This time we wanna build something sustainable. Something what pays us a salary for the rest of our life. It is a different mindset. And it made us risking everything.

We see success, and we love the way it feels. But being an entrepreneur means you are never done.

In our case, this journey is just the start. And even if we are doing this for a long time, we still feel like beginners every now and then.

Be aware that you have to go the extra mile, be aware that you need to take the extra risk. And then great tings will happen and you will achieve your dreams.
